Diana Flores is honored to perform with the New York Choral Society and Mannes Orchestra at David Geffen Hall in Lincoln Center in Sir Michael Tippett’s powerful oratorio A Child of Our Time.

Inspired by the events of Kristallnacht in 1938, Tippett’s landmark work explores themes of intolerance, persecution, compassion, and the possibility of reconciliation. Written for soloists, chorus, and orchestra, the work draws on the tradition of Bach and Handel while incorporating African American spirituals—including “Steal Away” and “Deep River”—creating a deeply moving dialogue between classical and spiritual traditions.
